Thermal Grizzly has introduced an innovative tool for GPU enthusiasts and professionals, the WireView Pro GPU. This device is designed to protect your graphics card from potential damage by measuring and monitoring temperature and power directly at the connection point.
The need for such a device arises from the introduction of the new 12VHPWR power connector with the GeForce RTX 40 Series. There have been reports of connectors and cables melting when improperly seated or connected to high-powered GPUs like the GeForce RTX 4090.
The WireView Pro GPU features an OLED display that can measure and record power consumption. It also includes internal temperature sensors at the power connectors to monitor for potential overheating issues. An external temperature sensor is available to measure GPU PCB temperatures, and the device comes with an alarm function and sensors to ensure proper cable connection.
Priced at $76.19 USD, the WireView Pro GPU is available on Thermal Grizzly's official site. It is an excellent tool for benchmarkers and reviewers due to its 60-second measurement cycle for recording power usage. However, it only measures power consumption through the connector, so PCIe slot power usage is not included.
The OLED display provides readings for all measured values, including current power consumption in watts, current in volts or amperes, minimum and maximum power consumption, average power consumption over 60 seconds, total power consumption, and temperature sensor readings.
