❶ The US Department of Energy has issued a request for proposals to develop the next-generation Discovery supercomputer, which aims to be three to five times faster than the current world's fastest supercomputer, Frontier. ❷ The Discovery supercomputer will support advanced AI, machine learning, improved energy efficiency, and comprehensive system modeling, among other workloads. ❸ Proposals for the Discovery project are due by August 30, 2024, with the goal of deploying the supercomputer by 2027 or early 2028.
