1. Researchers at JILA have developed an atomic clock more precise than any previous one, capable of detecting gravity effects at the microscopic scale. 2. The clock uses a cold gas of strontium atoms trapped in an optical lattice for high precision measurements. 3. This new clock could redefine the official second and enable new applications in navigation and mineral detection.
