Toshiba has announced the launch of its highest-capacity N300 and N300 Pro hard drives, designed specifically for private cloud storage and network-attached storage (NAS) systems. These new 24TB drives represent a significant leap in storage capacity, offering users an additional 2TB of space compared to the company's current largest offerings.

The N300 series is designed to support up to 12 drive bays and has a workload rating of 180 TB/year, making it suitable for small to medium-sized NAS applications. The N300 Pro, on the other hand, is built for more robust NAS systems, capable of handling up to 24 drive bays and a workload of 550 TB/year.

Koji Sakamoto, Senior Director for Product Sales and Marketing at Toshiba, emphasized the importance of these new drives, stating, 'Toshiba's 24TB N300 and N300 Pro set new benchmarks in storage capacity and density, while also enhancing power efficiency through our advanced helium-sealed design.'

These drives feature industry-standard speeds of 7200 RPM and a 1GB buffer, along with integrated sensors that compensate for rotational vibrations, increasing their reliability. Despite the increasing affordability and capacity of SSDs, hard drives remain a cost-effective solution for organizations and individuals requiring large-scale data storage via NAS or personal cloud.

While Toshiba's 24TB N300 series isn't the first to reach this capacity, it is more accessible to consumers, with the 24TB N300 Pro currently priced at $649.99 on Amazon. This price point makes it a viable option for those looking to expand their storage capacity without investing in additional hardware.
