Ubisoft, the developer behind the popular Assassin's Creed series, has announced a new direction for the franchise with the upcoming game 'Assassin's Creed Shadows'. According to Marc-Alexis Coté, the franchise boss, the game will lay the groundwork for the future of the series, focusing on the meaningful connections from earlier titles.

Coté acknowledged that the shift away from Desmond Miles' story, which ended in Assassin's Creed 3, has been challenging for the studio. The modern storyline has struggled to find its footing without the central character of Desmond Miles.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, originally set to launch in October, was delayed to February 2025 following significant fan backlash over controversial artistic choices. Coté explained that the ending of Desmond's journey was a difficult decision, and the modern storyline has been struggling to find its place without him.

With the delay, Ubisoft aims to address these issues and provide a strong foundation for the new direction of the Assassin's Creed series.
